Car Accident

Well, this has been a fun week. As Scott and I were driving home from work last Tuesday night, we got caught up in the construction on 35W. Our lane came to a complete stop. I just happened to check my rear view mirror just as an Explorer came plowing into us from behind. She was trying to merge into the other lane and didn't realize we had all stopped and she smashed the back end of my new Infiniti. :(

Good thing the accident it wasn't very serious. I was more upset to have to deal with the mess. Plus I'm hormonal and to see my brand new car smashed in made me want to cry.

The woman that hit me was very nice and she gave me all her insurance information. I filed a police report and called her insurance company to get the paperwork rolling. To my surprise, the entire process was super easy. The woman who hit me took full responsibility for the accident... an assessor came out to survey the damage backing up the story... the insurance company mailed me a check for the assessed damages... we then brought our car into the shop to get fixed. In addition, I was set up with a rental car -a beautiful brown KIA RONDO. It's a sexy - mini van/hybrid/wanna-be SUV. I can't tell you how excited I am to get my car back!!

In the end I won't have to pay a dime for this whole debachle, nor will my insurance go up.

To add icing to the cake the woman who hit me called me over the weekend, to check in to see how I was feeling. You don't come across many nice people when you run into situations like this. I was thoroughly impressed!

Entering the Third Trimester...

Monday, May 4th, Scott and I entered Clinic Sophia for our 28 week (7 month) appointment. We had a scare a couple weeks back as I went into the emergency room with severe abdominal pains. I had been having contractions for just about 2 hours that were 30-50 seconds long and 2-3 minutes apart. After several tests, everything was fine with the baby (thank goodness). But we found that my body was actually passing kidney sediments (like kidney stones, I guess) and that's why I was having contractions.

So at this appointment, I was nervous what the doctor might say. But, they said that everything is progressing along rather smoothly!! So, I just have to SLOW DOWN and cut out all pop in my diet and hopefully I won't have any more issues with the kidney pain. It was no fun, I will tell you what!!

At this point the baby is about 7 months (28 weeks) along and is around 3 pounds!!! YIKES!! The baby is growing in the 73 percentile! I am definitely having a large baby!!

They did show me the most amazing ultrasound images in 4D. In these pictures the munchkin looks like a little porcelain doll. You can see it's chubby little cheeks, it's little button nose, it's little foot... I guess they really only do this ultrasound when the baby's beginning to get a little bit more fat on its body so you can truly see its features. Check it out...

27 weeks

Baby Shower #1

Last weekend my mom and I drove down to Cedar Rapids, IA for a shower that Auntie Pam, Jami, and Michelle hosted. We had gorgeous weather all weekend!! Pam, Jami, Michelle, Morgan, Nana, Auntie Bernice, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Eldeen, Debbie, and (Uncle Steve as the token male) were all in attendance.

We had a great time enjoying wonderful treats made by the beautiful hostesses...

...and opened tons of great gifts and played a few games.

Jami is also pregnant, expecting her 3rd in October... doesn't she look cute?

All in all, we had a blast. Thank-you again wonderful hostesses for throwing such a great party!!
